PURPOSE:
Provide and create drawings and shape files for use in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Global Information Systems (GIS) and data bases using electronic survey field files and sketches to supports civil engineers, construction management, consultants and other disciplines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

•Create complex and detailed topographic, bathymetric and utility drawings from survey raw data, engineering data and other agencies data files in accordance with Port of Seattle's standards and procedures.
•Translate data coordinates between Sea-Tac International Airport (STIA) to State plane coordinates system.
•Provide spatial data for construction staking and feature locations to surveyors and engineers.
•Assist Jet lines (J-lines) gate allocations and relocations projects to meet airline’s needs.
•Produce CAD files and Portable Document Format (PDF) files of topography and utility cut-outs from Master Record Drawing (MRD) for consultant’s and contractor’s project as requested.
•Create as-built drawings upon completion of a project reflecting all changes made during the construction process.
•Support Geographic Information System (GIS) with base maps and data bases
•Assist other divisions with Computer Aided Design (CAD) base maps.
•Create Terrain Networks for Topographical maps, Seaport Sounding maps and 3D surface analysis.
•Create alignments and cross sections, road and drainage profiles.
•Maintain Emergency Master Utility Grid Map on local website and flat files.
•Produce exhibit maps, aerial maps, volume quantities, building square footage and acreage as requested by Port of Seattle Administrator or other departments.
•Generate topographic features and 3D models from 3D laser scanning point clouds.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the latest version of Autodesk software. Knowledge to create Surfaces, Corridors and pipe network creation in AutoCAD Civil 3D program. Knowledge of the following type of survey: Topography, 3D scanning, Bathymetry, construction staking, as built surveys, Jet line Surveys, Legal Description and exhibits for property surveys, easements and leases. Basic knowledge of GIS analysis, data conversions, composition and production of cartographic and other spatial data displays. Knowledge in video editing programs and applications: PTGui, Photomatix, KRPano, and Pano Tour Pro. Extensive experience using survey data files, Microsoft excel and access data bases. Knowledge of engineering and surveying concepts and terminology. Utilize critical thinking, judgment and experience to define, analyze and resolve problems and issues. Independently evaluate drafting request and determines layout, structure of drawings and media.

Skill in performing Topography, 3D laser scanning, Bathymetry, construction staking, as built surveys. Skillfully use photo processing applications including, but not limited to, PTGui, Photomatix, KRPano, and Pano Tour Pro. The skill to create Digital Terrain Model (DTM), alignments, utility and road profiles. Instrumental in developing and recommending improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of drafting methods and technology for the Mapping section. Maintain CAD Library, Utility drawings and data base files. Proficient in interpreting design and construction plans, conceptual drawings, specifications and legal descriptions.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to prepare Multi-discipline drawings in accordance with Port of Seattle drafting standards. Ability to create terrain networks for topographical mapping, bathymetry, alignments, cross sections 3D surface analysis, calculate grade volumes, road and drainage profiles as requested. Ability to retrieve spatial data from electronic drawings and convert them to usable formats. Ability to develop CAD application programs using LISP and other programming languages. Ability to work with others effectively to produce clear, timely and accurate information. Ability to work under fast paced conditions, and manages a heavy workload. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities. Ability to rotate plan datum from State plane to Tidelands and vice versa.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Combination of education and experience demonstrative knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to:
•High School Diploma or GED and;
•Six (6) years’ CAD experience using Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey field files.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Two (2) years’ technical training on AutoCAD Civil 3D and CAD drafting and;
•Eight (8) years’ Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS experience with some survey field experience.
