SPU's Land Survey Section is seeking an experienced Senior Land Survey Office Technician knowledgeable in a broad range of survey principles and practices. This employee will be responsible for drafting topographic and right-of-way maps used to design municipal infrastructure for Capital Improvement Projects, integrating technological equipment with complex software, and serving as a technical expert for the Land Survey Section. SPU Land Survey also provides professional services such as topographic mapping, legal descriptions, boundary line adjustments, right-of-way and private property delineation, and deformation monitoring and hydrographic mapping for other City departments including, but not limited to Seattle Department of Transportation and Seattle City Light.

The Land Survey Section is within the Engineering & Technical Services Division of the Project Delivery & Engineering Branch. This position reports to the Land Survey Technical Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
Perform technical work on SPU's most complex projects including, but not limited to drafting topographic drawings and record of surveys, creating digital terrain models, ALTA surveys, boundary lot line agreements and short plats, adjust/analyze survey control, process GPS data, process 3D laser scanning point clouds, write legal descriptions, and perform survey calculations.
Maintain records database related to land survey projects, project tracking data, software template maintenance, ETC.
Develop and implement land survey mapping standard operating procedures in accordance with City of Seattle standards, local/state laws, and industry standards.
Effectively communicate with clients and coworkers regarding scope, budget, and schedule of Land Survey projects, attend meetings and other assignments from supervisor.
Support land survey field crew for topographic surveys, 3D terrestrial laser scanning, boundary and control surveys.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:


Requires four (4) years of Civil engineering experience and an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or two years of college level coursework in engineering, environmental science or construction technology (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

The ideal candidate will, also, have:
Minimum four (4) years of consistent experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D in a land surveying production drafting environment.
Experience with Reality Capture collection, processing implementation and software including, but not limited to Cyclone, Cloudworx, Recap, Plant3D, and Trimble Business Center.
Experience in 3D laser scanning collection, processing, and implementation into land survey mapping.
Two (2) or more years experience working in the field in a land surveying capacity.
Ability to deliver survey projects and products on schedule, within budget, and to City of Seattle standards and Washington State legal requirements.
LSIT or PLS Certification
Ability to communicate and work effectively within a multi-cultural workforce serving a diverse customer base.


Additional Information
Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather, traffic, hazardous/toxic substances and work in or near construction sites.
May be required to lift over 50 pounds.
May be required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time.
Overnight travel may be required.
