SALARY RANGE:
Up to $6,217 per month

TYPE OF POSITION:
Permanent, Full-time. This position is represented by the WFSE.

POSITION PROFILE:

An integral part of a team of Professional Land Surveyors in the Washington Dept. of Natural Resources State Land Survey Unit, as one of our two Aquatic Lands Survey Specialists, this position:•Is an agency specialist on aquatic land boundary and surveying issues.
•Provides advice and guidance from a land survey perspective on aquatic land boundary and ownership issues to agency personnel, surveyors working for other organizations, neighboring landowners and others.
•Researches historical uses and conditions of state owned aquatic lands, prepares exhibits, descriptions and surveys for projects such as easements, leases, restoration projects, conservation areas and boundary resolutions as needed for agency business.
•Also provides survey reviews for aquatic lease and easement maps submitted by people or organizations seeking DNR authorization to use and occupy state owned aquatic lands for compliance with legal survey standards and agency requirements.
•And helps to guide the updating and maintenance of the DNR Aquatic Land Ownership Parcel and Boundary line GIS data.

The ideal candidate is a Professional Land Surveyor that is interested in public service, has a diverse background in urban and rural surveying and is seeking to expand their knowledge in the area of aquatic land ownership and boundaries.


Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•A thorough knowledge of Land Survey laws, regulations.
•Ability to convey complex technical information to peers, managers, program specialists and other non-technical staff.
•Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
•Ability to prioritize work with tight deadlines.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
•Two years in responsible change of general boundary surveying, either in field or office after receiving a Professional Surveyor's license.
•One year in responsible change of aquatic land boundary surveying, either in the field or office after receiving a Professional Land Surveyor's license.
•Knowledge of GIS concepts and systems so as to be able to steward the aquatic ownership GIS data.
•Competence in the use of AutoCad or similar mapping software to produce land survey maps and exhibits.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
•Possesses a valid Washington State Professional Land Surveyor's license
