Job Summary

The Survey Department Lead , working as a 1 Person Crew or Lead a 2 Person Crew, will conduct field surveying, drafting survey documents, manage timelines and interface with clients, contractors and field/office personnel. The Survey Crew Chief must be able to conduct complex field surveying duties

Responsibilities and Duties

Perform field surveys using Total Stations, GPS receivers and Levels to obtain coordinates and elevations
Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists and digital data in required formats for Project Managers, Land Surveyors and Drafting personnel
Reduce field data notes and verify their accuracy
Research legal and survey records to obtain information about property boundaries and areas to be surveyed
Perform field data collection and corner staking, boundary and easement surveys, topographic mapping, plat and condo documents, and construction staking
Work with field and office personnel, both as a team member and independently, to produce topographic surveys, record of surveys, A.L.T.A. surveys, boundary line adjustments, easement exhibits and any document required for project completion
Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy
Motivated individual to take ownership of survey department and help grow company
Qualifications and Skills

8 years minimum field surveying experience in land development and construction projects
Land development project experience specific to the Puget Sound region
Experience working with local municipalities including Skagit/King/Snohomish/Pierce counties
Current Washington State Professional Land Surveyor registration
Valid Washington State driver’s license including a clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of Land Surveying
Possess field experience in all types of physical land surveying

Possess field experience in data collection and instrument operations
Must be experienced in computing and staking of complicated construction projects, including but not limited to:
slope staking
bridge and highway construction
storm drain
sewer
water
walls
ponds
roads
curbs
lot corners
Familiarity with Topcon, Lieca Robotic Total Stations and GPS equipment
Communicate and coordinate project layout with contractors and clients in the field
Represent SCG in a responsible manner
Be responsible for meeting budgets for field time and managing requests for additional work in field with Survey Manager
Care and maintenance of equipment
Ability to travel overnight for select projects
Ability to carry up to 70 pounds and able to endure working in inclement weather conditions
Collaborate with Engineering Staff in order to refine processes and procedures
