LAND SURVEYORS

Leading civil-survey firm has a Survey Crew Chief and Instrument Person/Chainman positions available. The Survey Field Crew duties include boundary, topographic surveying, and construction staking.

The Survey Crew Chief is largely responsible for operation of field instruments, collection of field data and calculations necessary to perform various field surveys including boundary, topographic and construction surveys.

Major responsibilities include collecting field data for boundary and topographic surveys, perform computations during field survey activities, convert limited verbal and written directions from Project Surveyor or Chief Field Surveyor to obtain field survey data, maintains survey instruments and performs minor adjustments, performs analysis and back checking for accuracy of collected data, maintains records of daily survey activities including sketches and other forms of field notes in accordance with company policies, directs instrument person to carryout daily activities in an efficient and safe manner, assists in education and development of instrument person.

This Instrument Person/Chainman position is largely responsible for assisting the Crew Chief with measuring angles, distances and elevations during daily activities including boundary, topographic and construction surveys.

Major responsibilities include utilizing various survey instruments and tools to perform field survey tasks, installs stakes, hubs, bars and other materials as directed by Crew Chief, cut vegetation with hand tools as directed by Crew Chief, installs traffic control as necessary to perform survey activities in a safe environment, monitors and replenishes field supplies for assigned crew and informs appropriate staff of any deficiencies, schedules and coordinates maintenance of crew rig including – regular maintenance, tires, washing, etc., and maintains log of vehicle maintenance, places survey control monuments from positions established by field crew.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
Surveying experience is a plus for the Instrument Person and must include a minimum of two
(2) years of experience for Survey Crew Chief. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, handle multiple projects simultaneously, lift up to 70 lbs, and must have a valid Washington State Driver’s license. Successful candidate must be able to pass a background check and have a safe driving record.
