Come work with the Bureau of Land Management as a Cadastral Land Surveyor helping to support the Public Land Survey System throughout the nation! These are field going positions with locations in Oregon and Washington. In these positions you will support the Bureau's mission of multiple-use to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations, as well as supporting numerous other Federal agencies needs including the National Park Service, Bureau of Reclamations, Forest Service, Indian Tribes and others. These positions will be subject to travel requirements dependent upon project priorities and funding.

Duties: This position serves as a Land surveyor in a Bureau of Land Management Office and the primary duties include:
• Responsible for evaluating, recovering, determining and monumenting the boundaries of public lands by assisting, or leading, Federal authority surveys and resurveys.
• Creation of field notes and plats, legal descriptions as well as other boundary risk assessments.
• Learning and applying principles of land surveying and land ownership laws.

Basic Requirement: This position has a positive education requirement which requires that you have a degree in land surveying or civil engineering with a surveying option or emphasis. The civil engineering major must have included at least 6 semester hours of surveying, 3 semester hours of land law, and 21 additional semester hours in any combination of surveying, photogrammetry, geodetic surveying, geodesy, route surveying, remote sensing, cartography, survey astronomy, land information systems, computer-aided mapping, aerial photo interpretation, and survey analysis and adjustments; OR a combination of education and experience -- course equivalent to a major in land surveying or civil engineering as described above, plus appropriate experience or additional education; OR current registration as a land surveyor in a State, territory, or the District of Columbia obtained by written examination.
