Encompass Engineering and Surveying is seeking a highly motivated Survey Chainman to join our team. This position requires a qualified individual who will assist survey manager with land development surveying projects.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Represent the company in a professional manner.
• Perform basic survey calculations and plan checks.
• Attend field meetings with clients and contractors.
• Work both independently and as a member of our team.
• Collect accurate field data using Trimble total stations, levels and GPS.
• Maintains survey equipment and vehicles
• Create neat, accurate field notes and reports.
• Manage or work as a member of field crew personnel.
• Ability to work long hours and overtime as well as periodic out of town work.
• Demonstrate quality control and have a good understanding of field survey procedures and measurements.
• Learn and study the profession of land surveying.
• Perform manual labor such as use of hand and power tools, chain saws and brush clearing.
• Able to take direction from the team leader and is learning to use diverse equipment such as GPS, conventional total station, auto levels, data-collectors, office computers and field computers.
• As directed by a Team Lead, be able to download and upload electronic files and photos. Scan field notes and paperwork for daily assignments.
• Good communication skills with survey team, colleagues and superiors.
• Be motivated and have a strong work ethic.

Basic Qualifications
• 2 years of land surveying experience is preferred
• High School diploma or GED required
• Experience with Trimble robotic total station and GPS is a plus
• Knowledge of Trimble software including Survey Pro, Trimble Access and Trimble Business Center is a plus
• Ability to work outside in all seasons
• Ability to frequently lift and carry 50 lbs for extended distances. Work on uneven surfaces and on steep terrain in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to stand for long durations.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• Strong work ethic and accountability required
• Clean driving record and Valid Washington driver's license
