The Department of Permitting and Environmental Review is seeking an Assistant or Associate Engineer (Engineer I or II). This position may be filled as an Engineer I or II depending on qualification and experience. The person will perform a broad scope of either, depending on classification, advanced technical engineering support and entry-level professional engineering or higher level engineering work with minimal direction. The work may involve review of development applications such as boundary line adjustments, legal separate lot review, subdivisions, building permits, right-of-way use, and clearing and grading permits as they relate to engineering designs for roadway and drainage improvements, and/or impacts to water quality throughout unincorporated King County. Work is performed in an office or field environment and involves daily contact with staff, public officials, developers, contractors, property owners, citizens, and groups. Engineers are expected to work on an independent basis with minimal guidance and direction from higher-level positions and make recommendations and engineering decisions to assure projects meet the requirements of adopted permit conditions, County regulations and Best Management Practices.
