- Are you a registered Public Land Surveyor with a strong desire to serve your community?
Are you passionate about continuing Oregon's history of high-quality survey records?
Are you a skilled researcher with strong investigative techniques, able to locate, compile, and organize survey data?
Do you thrive working in a collaborative environment?
Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development (DTD) County Survey Office is seeking a motivated, experienced, and collaborative professional to join our team as a Land Surveyor. If selected for this position, you will be primarily responsible for reviewing and approving surveys and plats prepared by private surveyors. Additionally, you will prepare or review internal surveys and legal descriptions and assist as needed with the public land corner program. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual!
When assisting with the Public Land Corner program or working on internal projects, you will be doing extensive records research, starting from around the 1860s to the present time. This position will allow you to demonstrate your investigative skills in evaluating corners in the field, as well as your writing skills to prepare narratives and historic descriptions for USBT corner records in the office. For any assigned corners, you will also be responsible for writing reports on how the corner was verified or set, based on the evidence found in the field. Another critical component of this position will be preparing a sketch and history for each land corner that will be used for drafting the USBT map.
We are committed to being an exemplary organization with best practices in Land Surveying. To that end, we are searching for an experienced individual, who is motivated to contribute to the team's success in providing excellent customer service to the community. This drive for excellence extends to all aspects of the County Survey Office functions, such as maintaining the original Government Land Corners, maintaining a library of property survey records for Clackamas County, and reviewing all surveys and plats of all land divisions in Clackamas County for compliance with Oregon Survey laws.
